Last night on the campus of La Salle University was the inaugural International Mayors Forum for the World Meeting of Families. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Stephanie Rawlings Blake of Baltimore, New Orleans Mayor Mitchell Landrieu and Columbia Mayor Stephen Benjamin all spoke on government, education and family related topics.
Stephanie Rawlings Blake of Baltimore on what she hopes Pope Francis tells Congress later on today.
“I hope that he speaks about choosing love. Because I get very afraid of what the next couple of years are going to be for our country when we accept as the norm and we celebrate the level of inhumanity that we have seen. The incivility that we have seen. We are better than this. My hope is that the Pope recognizes that and pushes that charge in front of Congress.”
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter on Pope Francis’ meeting today with Congress.
“I would hope in his own way. In his spiritual, but frank way that he would call out folks with their hypocrisy. In two ways. One do onto others as you would do onto you and two judge not less you be judged.”
