Mummers and dogs were front and center at the Burke Playground in South Philadelphia this past weekend. The fifth annual Save The Mums & Mutts fundraiser benefits the Mummers museum and Treetops Animal Rescue.

“We are here today to raise a lot of awareness for the homeless animals and the shelters,” founder Megan West said.

Megan and her team have raised thousands of dollars throughout the last five years, but she says its about more than just money.

“What I want people to take out of this event is to know that there are so many animals out there that need homes. We need fosters. We need volunteers. We need fundraisers like this to help them so we can be their advocates,” West said.

Attendees of the event were welcomed to more than 70 raffle baskets, bouncy houses, blessing of the animals and live entertainment from the Quaker City String Band.
