Are you or someone you love at risk for Diabetes? Diabetes is a condition that effects the way your body metabolizes sugar. There are three main factors that lead to this disease:

  • Family History
  • Diet
  • Activity Level

I spoke with Dr. Samantha Plasner of Lourdes Medical Associates in Willingboro, New Jersey, who says to better fight against diabetes you must look for the warning signs:

  • Feeling excessively Thirsty/ Hungry
  • Frequent Urination
  • Weight Loss/Gain
  • Fatigue
  • Blurred Vision
  • Numbness/ Tingling in the Hands or Feet

Dr. Plasner states that there is an alarming increase of childhood diabetes, due to the unhealthy lifestyles adapted from their parents. Obesity is on the rise, along with being inactive, and other factors in your family history could put you and your family at risk. Dr. Plasner says early detection is key.
