Brittanie Thomas grew up in Glassboro, New Jersey, attended Drexel University and now works for Moore College of Art and Design as a counselor. Her musical roots run deep. Thomas says she was raised in a musical family with parents who are both musicians. She sung as a child in the church choir as well as with two sisters. But, it wasn’t until her freshman year in college that she really developed as a songwriter and soloist. She started writing about the emotional and spiritual journeys in her life which led to her motto, “I sing because I have to; I write because I want to.” Brittanie says her soul-inspired lyrics reach the heart. Artists who have inspired her? The legendary Nina Simone, smooth-as-silk Anita Baker and soul-stirring Adele to name a few.
