We all know some times when you “get it right, get it tight” you can get injured. This week I’m on the disabled list or DL, along with several Phillies players. So I headed to On Your Turf Massage with Serge Bogoutski to learn how to treat my back injury with sports massage.
Serge was a former soccer player back in and he said because he often dealt with sports injuries that inspired him to help others. Serge taught me various stretches for my neck and back, many which I could do at home. He said if you’re dealing with a spasm the best thing you can do is apply pressure or stretch it. I found it interesting that he said when you massage someone’s ears you are also working on the spine.
Serge caters his massages to all his clients specific needs and he’s helped many athletes perform much better by treating them with massage. His massages are one of a kind and he spends close to a half hour on the back alone since that’s where many people hold a lot of tension.
I walked out with a smile on my face and feeling much better. I’m ready to go back to working out!
