Local baseball team helps boy battling stage three brain tumor

PHL17 Morning News

Dominic Liples was diagnosed with a stage three brain tumor in March 2016 and despite surgery and treatment, his tumor has grown. His story has touched an entire community, especially a local baseball team.

Homers For Hope works with families who’ve suffered various types of tragedies through baseball-related fundraising events.

“We’ve been able to raise $100,000 dollars to help families in need so we’re grateful that we got such a strong community of baseball and softball players that come together year after year and we’re able to help them by doing something that’s fun and near and dear to our hearts,” said Co-founder Derrick Morgan.

The players have been tirelessly working with the Liples family to raise money for Dominic.

“At the end of every day as long as we’re able to accomplish what we’ve set forth to do as a team and as an organization, we’ve won every game that we’ve ever played,” said team manager Lee Middleberg.
