PHILADELPHIA, PA – Fire consumed a three story apartment building in South Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.
The flames could be seen coming from the second and third floors of the building at 1316 Broad Street, which is in between Wharton and Reed Street.
One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation and was taken to Thomas Jefferson Hospital for treatment.
Neighbors and witnesses to the fire said it took over two hours to get under control.
One man, Brian McNeil said he was visiting his mother in the adjacent building and was woken up by Philadelphia firefighters just after 1:00 a.m. McNeil said he believed the property was vacant at the time of the blaze.
No word on what cause the fire.
