Small businesses are bearing the brunt of the Coronavirus pandemic as many of them are forced to close. PHL 17 highlighted a local business in the fashion industry.Demetria Green talked to Monica Monique, the owner of Oxymoron Fashion House on Philadelphia’s Fabric Row.She has been in business for almost 5 years. However, her once thriving business may be on the verge of closing after an influx of cancellations on prom dresses, wedding dresses and special orders.Monica Monique hopes the newest round of emergency relief funding signed into law by President Trump will trickle down to her store.
For now, she is increasing her digital footprint by making face masks and selling it online and promoting a “Sew with Me” program on Instagram. The program lets people watch her sew and ask questions.
