The Philadelphia Horticultural Society is finding success with its “green jobs” initiative in partnership with the City of Philadelphia. The program which beautifies blighted lots and areas -- employs former inmates and seeks to change lives. Jennifer's guests include Keith Green from PHS, John Haye who is president of Haye Construction and community organizer Zakariyya Abdur-Rahman, president of the Nicetown CDC. The spokesperson for Philadelphia Prisons says about 7,500 people are currently incarcerated in six prisons. And, the recidivism rate is a staggering 55-to-60 percent regarding the number of people that are re-arrested and back in prison within a year. But, experts say such programs lower these rates and have a positive impact. “In Focus” is broadcast Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to Noon on PHL17.
