Sue Cardamone was a beloved teacher at Berlin Community School, Laurel Springs Elementary and Samuel S. Yellin Middle School. When she was battling adrenal cancer her friends, family and colleagues came together to help with the costs associated with treatment. Sadly, Sue was not able to survive the cancer. But her spirit lives on with a very popular 5K in Berlin Borough. (Photo Gallery below. NOTE: Some mobile users clicking the link from Facebook may only be shown the first 10 images in this gallery. The Berlin Community School Teachers, with help from the Cardamone family, have continued the fundraising 5K in Sue’s memory for the past 5 years. The 6th annual Sue Cardamone took place May 19th in the “Berlin Woods” development. As a result of the donations and race proceeds, scholarships are able to be awarded to students upon graduation from Eastern Regional High School and from Berlin Community School. Over 500 runners participate each year in the Sue Cardamone Scholarship Run and $16,000 in scholarship money has been raised and disbursed.
