Halls of Horror isn’t your typical haunted attraction, and it’s definitely not one for the faint of heart.
Charles Knight and the Halls of Horror crew built the haunt in the basement of his wife’s hair salon in Palmerton, PA when they realized that if you want something done right, you’ve got to do it yourself. “Regular work didn’t seem so fun,” Knight explained, “and dressing up and acting like a crazy person definitely sounded like a lot of fun. That’s actually what made me start it.” Everything you see in the haunt is created in-house, from the elaborate sets to the actor’s makeup.
The thing that really sets Halls of Horror apart from the rest is The Blood Experience. Speaking from personal experience, The Blood Experience will give you the scare of your life. Victims get blood, dry rub and who knows what else thrown on them, and a waiver that is required for entry permits actors to touch you and do whatever they need to do to pull of the scare. “Getting blood on you and and actually touching someone – it just works better,” Knight states.
