IN FOCUS: Friedreich’s Ataxia

Incredible people are raising awareness about a rare debilitating, degenerative neuromuscular disease called Friedreich’s Ataxia. The disease also referred to as FA affects 1 in 50,000 - or about 5,000 people in the United States. Jennifer Lewis-Hall's guests include Kyle Bryant, program director for rideAtaxia as well as Doctor Robert Wilson from The University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Doctor Wilson shares facts about FA and information regarding the value of clinical trials. Producer and director Zack Bennett also joins Jennifer. Bennett is the producer and director of the new documentary, The Ataxian. The film chronicles Bryant and his participation in “The Race Across America” in 2010, an annual race for world class athletes from Oceanside California to Annapolis Maryland. The award-winning film is being shown in a special screening in the Delaware Valley on October 15th. On October 16th - the 8th annual rideAtaxia fundraising race is happening again in Blue Bell, PA.
