UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez stopped by PHL17 Morning News. Check out PHL17’s David Grzybowski interview with Philadelphia native Eddie Alvarez talking about his next fight and his Philadelphia upbringing.

Alvarez on his Philadelphia background.

"I met a lot of my mentors in North Catholic,. Bill Hunter in particular, and just the North Catholic program period. Jim Savage has run a dynasty in North Catholic wrestling and just a lot of my mentors learned a lot about hard work, about dedication, and what it takes to become a champion. And, I take those attributes that I learned and take it into my fight career and into my life and its worked out for me.”

Alvarez on his next fight.

"So I don't know if Philly is a possibility. I push for it, but I don't know if it can happen because the cards are booked for the rest of the year so maybe next year. But, we are trying to pull the UFC in the direction of the East Coast. I know there's a card in Madison Square Garden in November and I think that’s sort of our aim right now to get on that card and look for a good opponent."
