Local Philadelphia reaction to Orlando mass shooting

Local Philadelphian’s and political leaders are continuing to show their support and respect to the victims in Orlando.  Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenny and Pennsylvania Governor Tom wolf took to Twitter yesterday after the shooting.

Yesterday Facebook turned it its safety check feature for the first time. The feature allowed people to use the social networking site or app to notify people that they were safe in wake of a crisis or disaster. When a person selects the option to say I’m a safe friends on Facebook were notified

This evening at 6:45pm the city of Philadelphia will be holding a candlelight vigil for the victims of the Orlando shooting at the north apron of city hall. Mayor Jim Kenney will be in attendance and the vigil is open to the public.
