KING OF PRUSSIA, PA – An indoor skydiving facility opened in King of Prussia back in April, but their grand opened ceremony was held Thursday morning.

iFly, the region’s only indoor skydiving operation, has teamed up with Girl Scouts to showcase an innovative S.T.E.M. curriculum and to incite passion for science and flight.

iFLY King of Prussia celebrates its landing in the Philadelphia region as the company cuts the ribbon on its 20th indoor skydiving tunnel. The attraction – which delivers the dream of flight to adventure seekers young and old alike – recently opened as part of the expanding King of Prussia entertainment and shopping district, near the namesake mall and developing town center.

Girl Scouts from around the region will also join iFLY educators for a demonstration of the company’s S.T.E.M. program, available to local student groups, homeschoolers and other science- and physics-oriented organizations. iFLY works closely with Girl Scouts nationwide as part of its new S.T.E.M. badge. The demo is open to the media.

iFly is located at 290 Goddard Boulevard in King of Prussia, adjacent to the mall, it is the newest iFLY facility and the company’s 20th tunnel in the U.S.

“Our mission is to deliver the dream of flight to everybody, whether you’re age three or 103,” said Matt Ryan, iFLY President and COO. “Since 1998, more than seven million customers worldwide have experienced human flight at iFLY in a variety of ways – families and friends on a fun excursion, students on an educational field trip, business people on unique corporate team-building trips, professional skydivers and members of the military doing training. Thanks to iFLY, flying is finally available to everyone.”

Each iFLY indoor skydiving facility is a marvel of advanced engineering that replicates the experience of skydiving. To prepare for their flight, customers complete a training class guided by one of iFLY’s flight and safety instructors. After training is complete, they are outfitted with flight gear, including goggles, helmet and flight suit, and then – with their instructor at their side – enter the flight chamber and are supported by a cushion of air.

Every flight package includes training, flight gear and flight time with an International Bodyflight Association-certified instructor. The IBA has established the Gold Standard for training and safety standards for Indoor Skydiving Instructors; iFLY instructors meet or exceed IBA standards.
