IN FOCUS: Breast Cancer Awareness

Our focus is on breast cancer awareness and the latest in technology and research in the fight against breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. And this year they say nearly 247,000 new cases will be diagnosed in women. Regarding breast cancer in men, statistics from the American Cancer Society say there will be about 2,600 new cases that will be diagnosed this year. Jennifer’s guest include Dr. Ari Brooks, Chief Endocrine and Oncologic Surgery and Director of the Integrated Breast Center at Pennsylvania Hospital. Two breast cancer survivors also join us to share their inspiring and motivating stories and also their struggles including diagnosis and recovery. Those survivors are Christine Lamar and Leila Joffe. And, Jennifer is joined by another breast cancer survivor who is also the Komen Community Ambassador, Jeanette Stephens-El. “In Focus” airs Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to Noon on PHL17.
