Smart phones are getting a lot smarter and the time for live streaming on your phone has begun.

The battle of live streaming video on your smartphone has begun as the meerkat app has found its new video competitor: Periscope.

Periscope is an app owned and operated by Twitter, who bought the company back in January of 2015 and just recently launched last week on march 26th.  Periscope will notify followers who can join the broadcast, comment and double tap the screen for more hearts all through using Twitter. The more hearts you get on your live stream, the higher your popularity will be on the app.

Meerkat launched in February of 2015 and has the same features with one touch of your phone and you’re live on your device.

The biggest difference between these two apps is that Periscope allows users to replay broadcasts up to 24 hours as well as being saved to your camera roll on your mobile device.
