PHL-17 was home to the 2014 Mummers Parade, coincidentally the 114 year of the parade, and Eye Opener was proud to participate with reporters Zach and Ashley in the field and host Jennifer Lewis-Hall kicking off the festivities with PHL-17’s Steve Highsmith and Channel 6’s Alicia Vitarelli. Jen was happy to rejoin Steve for the emcee duties and there was lots of fun to be had among the crew.

Although it was cold, the mood was festive and cheery at the historic event, which provided family friendly fun for all ages. PHL-17 was happy to see the Quaker City String Band and captain Jimmy Good rank so highly! Jimmy is an Eye Opener favorite ever since he covered the weather with Jenn a few weeks ago.

The Eye Opener gang had fun messing around in the new year, and much of that was captured in the impromptu photos taken over the course of the day. Among them are a shot of producer Mik and Jen cheesin’ for the camera, Jen posing with former Eye Opener intern Nicole and some point-of-view pics from the desk. Take a look! And start your new year off right with Eye Opener, weekdays from 6-8 a.m. only on PHL-17.
