Get It Right, Get It Tight is my motto when it comes to personal safety. Ian Poush of Oracle Protection Services says this can’t be accomplished with a single one-hour class or by remembering an acronym. Poush says it’s more about being aware of your surroundings and understanding how you can exploit an attacker’s weaknesses to protect yourself and get away if, God forbid, the circumstance requires it.

“It’s not about winning,” he says. “It’s about being able to get away.”

Eye Opener’s Jennifer Lewis-Hall and I learn a few of the various techniques Poush has in his arsenal, and every lady out there should take note as well! Personal safety and awareness are of the utmost importance, especially in an urban setting. Take a look to learn more.

And be sure to tune into Eye Opener, a different kind of morning show, weekdays from 6 to 8 a.m. on PHL-17.
