Pop artist Cody Simpson joins Mike Adam on this week’s Eye Opener Music Beat. The Australian heart throb talks about touring the country with his family, how he keeps busy while on the road, and other ways he tries to act like a “normal kid.”

The 16-year-old began recording songs and posting them on YouTube in 2009.  His talent in performing covers such as “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, “Cry Me a River” by Justin Timberlake, and “I Want You Back” by Jackson 5 caught the attention of Grammy-nominated record producer Shawn Campbell.

So far this year, Simpson has taken home awards at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards and the Young Hollywood Awards.  He was also nominated in three categories at the Radio Disney Music Awards earlier this year.

Tune into Eye Opener every Friday from 6am to 8 am for your weekly Music Beat. Q102′s Mike Adam gets exclusive interviews with groups like 98 Degrees, Backstreet Boys, Fifth Harmony and many more!  You can watch Eye Opener….a different kind of Morning Show, weekdays on PHL17 and you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter @EyeOpenerPhilly.
