WPHL 17 is a proud sponsor of the Tour de Cure race with the American Diabetes Association in Philadelphia. And, this morning we are proud to congratulate the top fundraiser in that race who joined me to talk about his own battle with Type 1 diabetes.

Michael Tuno, the lead rider with Team Tuno in June, raised a whopping $10,487 – more than doubling the amount that he raised for the organization last year. Overall, the 2013 Greater Philadelphia Tour de Cure event exceeded its goal raising over $417,000. There were more than eight-hundred riders, thirteen sponsors and seventeen vendors showing their support for this great cause.

And, for Michael Tuno the ride was not only fun but personal. He was diagnosed with diabetes as a child and has lived with the disease for thirty-eight years.
