Biz Bites has a bit of a different twist this week with Peter Van Allen of The Philadelphia Business Journal and I hitting the Graffiti Bar at the eclectic Sampan in Mid Town Village. Instead of “chowing down” as I say in our segments, this time we focused on the cool drinks and the edgy atmosphere.
Peter tried the “mocktails” or drinks without alcohol. He sipped on the blood orange pomegranate juice, ginger green tea limeade, and a cucumber lemonade. My drinks were cocktails and included the signature of Sampan, the Sampantini and a delicious frozen slushi. And, get this – imagine a small fishbowl filled with your favorite cocktail to share with about eight friends. Well, at Sampan it’s called the scorpion bowl which was a wonderful blueberry lemonade.
The restaurant itself serves up a fun menu of modern Asian small plates that are ideal for mixing and matching.
And, while the Graffiti Bar outside is fun and trendy, the restaurant is a cozy space featuring reclaimed timber, distressed metals and a glowing ambience. Checkout our Biz Bites rating on this hot summer find.
