WPHL- 17 is a proud sponsor of the Tour de Cure bike race taking place Saturday June 1st at Temple’s Ambler campus. A group of about a dozen of our own employees are riding in the race that helps to raise money for the American Diabetes Association. Joining us live in the studio is Dr. Jeffrey Silber, who is a rookie of  The Merck Cycling Club and will be riding to help fight this chronic disease.

After losing an aunt and a cousin to Type 1 diabetes, and having both of his parents diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes later in their lives, Jeff decided to get more involved in helping fight the battle of diabetes.

The fundraising goal for this year is to try an raise at least 400,000. There is a total of 850 riders which makes 89 teams who will be riding tomorrow, in either the 12, 35, or 63 mile ride.
