I joined St. Patrick’s Center Chairman Michael McDermott the Thursday before St. Patrick’s for the annual St. Patrick’s Communion Breakfast.  Outside of St. Patrick’s Church bagpipes played and people entered for mass.  Several dignitaries attend and last year Vice President Joe Biden made a special appearance.  The morning starts will a church service then proceeds with a parade and ends with breakfast.  McDermott says the festivities raise money for the St. Patrick’s Center in the city, which helps feed and support those in need.  He says this year the demand for assistance is at an all time high.
