The Polish American String Band, founded in 1933, has won 11 first prize awards and 14 second prize awards going into this year’s competition. Led by captain Nick Magenta, this year’s performances was an over-the-top entertaining winter spectacle.

2014 Theme Concept:

The weather forecast called for dry conditions but the Polish American String Band’s 2014 performance titled “Its Snow Time”brought a blizzardof excitement to Broad Street. Snowflakes swirled, polar bears in pink tutus strutted their stuff, and penguins waddled, all perfectly in sync with the incredible sounds of the string band. Father Winter ended the performance by blowing winds of sparkling snowy magic out to the crowds!

The Band has been representing Philadelphia and its surrounding communities since it was founded in 1933. The Polish American String Band performs annually in the Philadelphia Mummers Parade and has been a consistent contender for the top prize throughout the years, winning 1st prize 11 times.
