The Greater Overbrook String Band has been a part of the Mummers tradition since 1931. This talented group of musicians and performers have brought their world renowned show to places all over the globe. With Captain Bill Razzano in the lead, the Greater Overbrook String Band once again gave an outstanding performance!

2014 Theme Concept:

The Greater Overbrook String Band 2014 theme “Showboaten on Broad Street” was simply delightful with spectacular over-the top props. The show welcomed all who watched to climb aboard a grand showboat. The colorful period costumes, perfectly timed dancing, and a musical scored played to perfection made this one of the days not to be missed performances!

2014 Greater Overbrook String Band

The Greater Overbrook String Band was organized in 1930 and first appeared in the Philadelphia Mummers New Year’s Day Parade on January 1st, 1931 under the name of the 69 Street String Band. Then in 1939 the name was changed again to the Whitman String Band until 1952. From 1953 to present The Whitman String Band changed their name to the Greater Overbrook String Band.

The Greater Overbrook String Band was organized in 1930 and first appeared in the Philadelphia Mummers New Year’s Day Parade on January 1st, 1931 under the name of the 69 Street String Band.
