IN FOCUS: East Coast Greenway

The East Coast Greenway, which was started in 1991, is three-thousand miles long and is the nation’s most ambitious long-distance urban trail. Jennifer Lewis-Hall's guests include Andy Hamilton, East Coast Greenway Mid-Atlantic Coordinator, Larry Silver, East Coast Greenway Board of Trustee member and Terra Edenhardt-Pepe, East Coast Greenway Volunteer. In Philadelphia, the East Coast Greenway uses Spring Garden Street to cross the City from the Delaware River to the Schuylkill River. And, in New Jersey, the Greenway covers 98-miles between Pennsylvania and New York. It passes through areas including Trenton and parts of Northern New Jersey. The Greenway is used recreationally and it improves public health by empowering active transportation in a safe environment. It also lowers pollution by substituting car trips with bicycling and walking and provides construction and maintenance jobs. In Focus airs Saturday mornings at 6:30 and 11:30 on PHL17.
