July 4th starts the summer season and also can make eating healthy more challenging.  Here are some ideas to slim your summer barbecue.

Summer Salads.  Try Roasted Kale Chips and Quinoa Salad.  This salad incorporates several superfoods such as quinoa—a whole grain that is a complete protein packed with fiber and other key nutrients. Quinoa tastes great, adding a nice crunch to any salad.  Kale is a bona fide anti-cancer superfood. To make your fresh meal burst with flavor, make something real, with something real: Litehouse dressings. Mix the ingredients with some cool, refrigerated Litehouse® Homestyle Ranch dressing and you have a super-nutritious, snappy and fresh side dish to lighten up your July 4th festivities.

Healthy Substitutes.  You can wave goodbye to chicken wings by trying Roasted Spicy Cauliflower Buffalo Wings. Give greasy calorie loaded chicken wings a run for their money both nutritionally and with their flavor profile.  Cool down the wing heat with Litehouse® Chunky Bleu Cheese dressing.

Top Your Burger Responsibly.  Don't glob your cheese-- shake it!  Instead of a processed cheese square on your burger, sprinkle just the right amount of artisan cheese like Simply Artisan Reserve™ Blue Cheese Simple Seasons or Simply Artisan Reserve™ Feta Cheese Simple Seasons.

Marinade Smart. Some dressings aren't just for salads.  Litehouse® dressings like Sriracha Lime, Mango Habanero and Sesame Ginger as marinades for barbecued meats are a light alternative that taste better than sugar heavy sauces.

Healthy Appetizers.  Start your party on the healthy site with fruit.  Blue Cheese & Walnut Stuffed Strawberries, Coconut Basil Lime Roasted Chickpeas,  Caramelized Nectarines with Blue Cheese and Bacon.

By making little changes you can keep your summer barbecue delicious, healthy and "lite."
