Want to host the chic summer gathering, interior designer and artistic adviser to LG studio, Nate Berkus gives us the scoop. Rule one, plan ahead.
Nate: Make sure everything is steamed and clean. Your dishes are washed it is ready to go. Make sure there is coffee ready. Make sure there is a pitcher of summer lemonade. This actually has lavender in it, but this is all set up and already to go. And do it buffet style because it is so much easier than a sit down.
We all know the kitchen is about bringing people together. We do a lot of living and create memories in our kitchen and Nate says it is the hardest working room in the home. So you need it to be well functioning to stand the test of time and great appliances are at the heart of that.
Nate: I have spent the greater part of 20 years, designing kitchens for myself and on behalf of clients all over the wold. The studio line has been a blast for me to collaborate with LG on. They understand the makings of a dependable, solid, forward thinking appliance. There is a lot of really great things about each of the products in the studio line. We have elongated the ice and water dispenser so that you can fill a vase with flowers. We just cleaned up the line and made it more mainstream and much more pro style.
Now that the appliances are in check, what should you keep in mind for the table scheme?
Nate: I would say, mix materials all the time. Go for unexpected accessories. It creates interest and makes your guests feel really special.
The last layer, floral arrangements are touches of greenery that can dress up any table.
Nate: I like the idea of keeping the color scheme very uniformed. Greens and pinks or all whites.
Or bring in unexpected elements like geometric vases and bold patterns. Bringing the outside in is one of the best summer decor tricks.
Nate: I care deeply about design and personalization. The whole point is how can we make our kitchens our own. I think that is what everyone is personally interested to create this space.
