38-year-old Chuck Morris loves his Phillies, but this weekend he`ll be going to the ballpark for a different reason.

“The Philadelphia walk to defeat ALS is a great encouragement to us. We see thousands of people come out and its nice to see families like ours have that support,” Chuck Morris said.

Chuck was diagnosed with ALS in 2010. For the Morris family staying positive has been difficult, but not impossible.

“Its impossible to do this if you wake up everyday with a negative mindset. You just get bogged down and overwhelmed by the disease. One of the things Chuck and I learned and I think the kids have learned that too is that you just take each day as a gift,” Christina Morris said.

Christina Morris’ parents live with the family in Newark, Delaware and help with whatever is needed.

"Focus on what is happening that day and even what is happening in that moment. What can I do to take care of that situation. If Chuck needs something whoever is available will help him with that. That story of it taking a village well its taking a household,” Ann Marie Hossier said.

This weekend`s ALS walk at Citizens Bank Park will be the fifth walk for the family. The 100 person strong "Chuck Crusaders" as they are called, say it`s important in several ways.

“You feel like you are actually doing something. instead of letting ALS win by going and doing that walk we are fighting and we are telling ALS we are not going to let ALS win,” Christina Morris said.

"It is also a great opportunity to raise awareness and remind people that this incurable always fatal disease can strike them or someone they know at any time. That is why we need to defeat ALS," Chuck Morris said.

If you want to join the Morris family and the “Chuck Crusaders” this Sunday head down to Citizens Bank Park this upcoming Sunday for the 2015 Greater Philadelphia Walk to defeat ALS. The walk starts at 11am.
