Jennifer Lewis-Hall: Meanwhile summer is the perfect time to crank up your music and have some fun, but what songs are the most popular? PHL17's Jason Lee spoke to Spotify's Shanon Cook to get that scoop.

Jason Lee:
Shanon Good Morning. Tell us the top songs for summertime 2015.

Shanon Cook:
Well one of my favorites is a song by the British producer Jaime XX. It's called "I Know There's Going To Be Good Times," kind of a long title. Listeners at Spotify are already really streaming this song in high numbers. We're also focusing on some great pop songs. There's a song called "Shut Up and Dance" by the band Walk the Moon which has been really popular around the world. Jason Derulo is on our list with "Want to Want Me" which is a great song with a really cool eighties vibe. One song that I'm really banking on is sort of getting away from the pack a little bit is from The Weekend. The other's from Toronto who is really hot right now and he has a new song called "Can't Feel My Face." Bit of a strange title but it's a really funky song that's already doing really well on Spotify.

Jason Lee:
So how do you determine the top songs? Give us the science behind it.

Shanon Cook:
We look at streaming numbers. Songs that are already streaming really well you know first time out of the gate when the numbers are high that's often a good sign. We also look at songs that are being shared in high numbers cause you know if somebody approves of something if they like something they want to share it with their friends. We also just consider the overall feel of the song. The tone of the song. Is it a feel good song? Is it an upbeat song to match the sunny, happy vibe of summer?

Jason Lee:
Now Shanon I want you to look into your crystal ball. The top song of summertime 2015 will be what?

Shanon Cook:
I think it's going to be the one I mentioned earlier by The Weekend "Can't Feel My Face." It's already stuck in my head and you know the songs of the summer are songs that are inescapable. You just cant get away from singing them. You can't get away from hearing them. I'm already hearing this song when I'm in restaurants, when I'm in cafes. I was at a party the other night, the DJ played it twice. So I think that song even though it has a really strange name "Can't Feel My Face" I think that's going to be one of the biggest.

Jason Lee:
And real quick, What are some of the trends in music right now that you can share with us?

Shanon Cook:
Well hip hop is really popular on Spotify at the moment. And also because it's wedding season. We're seeing a lot of activity around playlists of wedding-themed songs. A lot of times these days people don't higher a DJ at their weddings they just stream their Spotify playlists. So we're definitely seeing an increase in those.

Jason Lee:
Alright Shanon Cook from Spotify. Thank you so much for your time this morning. We appreciate it.

Shanon Cook:
My pleasure.

Jason Lee:
And Eye Opener continues.
