You know us as Jen, Ashley and Zach but for Christmas the Eye Opener Philly crew transformed into Lady Liberty, a flower, and mouse king for Nutcracker 1776. We had the special opportunity to learn dance moves and appear with the elite Rock School For Dance Education ballerinas. Nutcracker 1776 is a unique twist on the traditional holiday ballet that incorporates Philadelphia history. Bo and Stephanie Spasoff who direct the dance school say they wanted a performance that all families could enjoy even the little toddlers.
The Rock School dancers are some of the best in the country and go on to various competitive dance companies. Jen, Ashley and Zach all in their various roles learned about stage presence and that timing is everything. We found a place in the famous Nutcracker finale. The spanish dancers, arbian dancers, sugar plum fairy and several characters all join together for the grand ending.
While the Eye Opener Philly crew gave it their best effort, Bo Spasoff says “he’s never seen anything quite like that before.” And by the expression on his face we won’t be getting contracts to join a company.
Tune into Eye Opener weekdays from 6-8am.
